Congratulations on your new puppy! We think Doodlesville Doodles are the most wonderful dogs in the world. We have a few recommendations that may help your new pup ease the stress of moving to his new home – some things you might not have thought about. These include stress, new toys, confinement,
new water and food, and vitamins.

IN ADDITION SEE OUR NEW TIPS PAGE>> Click here

Effective Immediately
Parents are asked not to bring children under the age of 5.
Children over age 5 will be given a short lesson (in kid-talk of course) about how to behave when visiting the puppies. Children have a way of getting puppies VERY wound up in a short amount of time and can get bored during the orientation,
It would be preferred if parents came alone if at all possible
ALSO, Allow 1-2hrs for orientation. We cannot be rushed going over the info you will need to make sure puppies transition will be a smooth one,

The Impact of Stress
Please be patient – your puppy has just left the only home he has ever known. This transition can cause many undesirable affects during the first few days home, including Lose of appetite, (add boiled hamburger or boiled chicken)
loose stools/diarrhea or even temporary shedding.
Stress can also stimulate a parasite called coccidia which also shows itself in watery loose stools. Of course your puppy may show stress in other ways, such as shaking or hiding. This type of stress is to be expected, and shouldn't’ last long.
But loose stools/diarrhea is potentially dangerous.
It is extremely important that you keep an eye out for any loose watery stools diarrhea. Young puppies can become dehydrated and die very quickly. Typically i send home Endosorb, which is like puppy pepto that will normally stop it within 2days, you may also use PURE pumpkin not the pie filling ,,which helps with diarrhea as well as constipation (just a little tidbit of info for ya) :O)
If you see your puppy having this problem,\
please call us immediately.
We can help alleviate this problem and very likely save you money. Do NOT rush the pup to the emergency room, its more likely the can pickup deadly germs there, when i can help so pup can be seen by your regular vet,
We want your first few days home to be as happy as possible I provide you with all the info and possible things you will need to assure that happens :O)

Toys
As for toys, we recommend latex toys, rope toys, chews, etc. Please do not give your puppy hard rubber at this point. Puppies also enjoy chewing on hooves. Please do not give your puppy rawhide, as rawhide can get stuck in a puppy’s (or even full grown dog’s) throat and cause choking.
A cuddle puppy has a heart beat this will make being in his new home less stressful also,
or a whined up clock tied inside a sock,
Please note that we include some things for your new puppy when you leave here – sort of a baby gift from us to you, if you will! These items include some toys, chews, etc. designed to make your first few days easier for you.

Confinement
We recommend you purchase a 36” wire crate (No divider for your puppy). .
Also a exercise pen is highly recommended.
We recommend attaching  the exercise pen to your puppy’s crate (as pictured)
which makes the pup feel less confined and will make the crate and housetraining less stressful on a puppy.
If you had planned on putting up gates in a area please reconsider, not only can your pup chew on baseboards, floors, rugs, they have a potential of ingesting this and that can be fatal,

This set up is MUCH Safer for your new pup, and will help to reduce stress of the change of environment,it also will aide in crate training and housebreaking, to make the transition so much easier
please use ex-pen crate recommendation. SEE PICTURE BELOW
If you plan or other arrangements then above please contact us

Food & Water
First, in order to avoid an upset tummy, please use bottled water exclusively for the first several days at home. Once your pup seems more comfortable and into your routine, gradually switch his water to your regular (tap) water, Watching for UTI, peeing to much or having trouble peeing etc. Again, gradual is the key word here. Over the course of several days, reduce the amount of bottled water while increasing the amount of tap water. This will ease the transition and potentially save you from cleaning up vomit and diarrhea.

You will no doubt want to know what sort of food your growing puppy will need.

.If large breed dog,, it is important to get them on a lower protein diet so they do not grow to fast, which will cause growth issues , HD for one

First feeding when you get home, in a coffee cup fill with puppy dry food leave about a inch so above food line, use bottled water Microwave for about 1minute until HOT, stir and let stand for appx15min to cool, this will help with 1/2 the digestion for your pup after a big day, then Daily.  In the morning, repeat coffee cup no need to let this get mushy, just a little soft, after pup starts eating ,fill bowl with DRY food, this will continue with the free feeding we start  here

•Evening feeding repeat morning instructions.  When feeding breakfast & dinner, remember to pet your puppy.  This will train your pup not to have food aggression developments in the future.

•After about 2 weeks in your home, your puppy should be on dry free choice food all day – Free choice feeding helps prevent gorging on food, and lessens the chance of upset tummies or twisted stomachs.

•Please keep your pup on dry food for his whole life and limit table food to avoid having an overweight dog. Dry food also helps prevent tartar build-up
